Remote hiring is different

When you apply for a remote role, the hiring manager cannot read your body language in an interview room. They are looking for signals in your CV that you can work independently, communicate clearly in writing, and manage your own time.

What to add for remote roles

**Mention remote work explicitly.** If you have worked remotely before, say so: "Software Engineer (remote)" in your job title line.

**Show async communication skills.** Mention tools: Slack, Notion, Linear, Jira, Confluence. These signal that you are familiar with async work.

**Quantify self-managed projects.** "Led a cross-timezone team of 4 to deliver X on time" is stronger than "worked in a distributed team".

**Add your timezone.** International remote employers often filter by timezone. Include it in your contact line: "Cairo, Egypt (UTC+2)".
